In November 2017 Guildford Borough Council rubber-stamped the latest Local Plan submission to the Planning Inspectorate unchanged after latest (ha!) consultation. No statistics from GBC are available on the level of comments received in this latest round, but we know that a great number of people again responded to that consultation – thank you!
Now the Secretary of State has appointed Jonathan Bore as the Inspector to oversee the Examination of the LP.
GBC have appointed a “programme officer” – Chris Banks – to manage the examination process on behalf of the Inspector. His role includes day-to-day management of the examination process, before and during the actual public examination, managing documents, submissions and correspondence on the Local Plan, arranging site visits etc. and to “help parties to effectively engage in the Examination process to ensure that your right to participate is fulfilled“.
The next step is the Examination in Public of the Local Plan. This starts at 10am 5 June 2018 at Millmead offices, and will go on for some time.
If you would like to receive updates from directly from Chris Banks please contact him by email – email@example.com
We obviously hope to be able to get this iniquitous and disastrous Local Plan revised, but much of this will depend on the outcome of the Public Examination and the Planning Inspector’s report and recommendations.
Ripley Action Group believe it is very important that there is a significant presence of local people in the Inquiry room at the Public Examinations, and vital to have local residents speaking of their personal experience and concerns. Please put the Examination dates in your diary, and really try to make an effort to get along to the hearing if you can.
If you’d like to speak (this is not nearly as daunting as you might imagine) that would be fantastic. This can be arranged either directly through Chris Banks (firstname.lastname@example.org), or RAG can coordinate this for you if you prefer – just let us know!
